Give and Take
Have you ever wondered why you think the way you do about people, jobs, relationships, and just about anything you have ever encountered? Everything you have ever experienced, every thought you have thought is the direct result of what you have given to it, or what you have taken from it. This is the capacity of our souls to give thought and to take thought concerning all that we see, hear, and feel in this life. God has designed us in his image, and in this creation, he has put within us the ability to do so.
In this book of Give and Take, we will follow the path from salvation to warfare to peace and giving of thanks as we see that God gives us much and that much is available from him for us to take for our advantage. As you discover who he is as a sovereign God, you will begin to measure your life based on what you give to it and what you take from it. Understanding that the principles set forth in the give-and-take that we apply in respect, forgiveness, taking captive thoughts, and more as seen through the examples of David, Nehemiah, Daniel, the Apostle John as well as others is through and by his love. All we give to this life and all that we take from this life is defined by this principle of give-and-take. Every relationship, every event, every moment is rendered through how we give to God and how we take from God.

In 2016 God spoke to David telling him to write a book and to title it Give and Take. God in his persistence convinced David to get started and this is the book. Along the way as God revealed to him what to write he was confronted with addressing the short-comings in his spiritual life and went through a maturing process in his own spirit and soul.
David A. Read grew up in a rural small town in Northern Indiana dividing his time between coaching Jr. high school teams, running his co-owned business as well as working for large corporations. After getting married and having three children with his best friend and wife God began qualifying him and pressing him to stop living for himself and begin to know the Lord more.
As Paul the Apostle wrote in Philippians 3:7-13 about all that he had gained he counted as loss being measured against knowing Jesus the Christ and yet realizing he had not yet obtained to this knowledge he continued to press forward toward that mark of knowing Christ and the power of his resurrection. So too, David, continues toward that mark amidst all the happenings and events of the world today always pressing forward amongst the trials and victories coming to know he is loved by God, by Jesus, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
